About The Role
The Midweight Designer plays a key role in delivering high-quality brand and design work across a range of client accounts. They bring strong conceptual thinking, excellent design skills, and growing confidence in managing projects from brief through to final delivery.
Working closely with the Creative Director and the wider design team, the Midweight Designer contributes original ideas, develops considered design solutions, and ensures all outputs meet Rapid’s standards for creativity, consistency, and effectiveness. They are confident in their abilities, proactive in their approach, and motivated to continue developing their craft.
Essential
Skills and Experience
- 3-4 years’ experience in a graphic design role, ideally within a creative agency, studio, or fast-paced in-house team
- A strong portfolio showcasing bold, refined, and thoughtful design across brand, digital, and campaign work
- Strong understanding of typography, layout, branding, and digital design principles
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign
- Ability to develop brand identities, campaign visuals, and digital-first design systems
- Confidence in taking creative concepts from initial ideas through to polished final delivery
- Ability to present work clearly and explain creative decisions with confidence
- Excellent attention to detail across every stage of a project
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Curiosity, ambition, and a proactive attitude towards learning and creative development

- Agency experience
- Experience working across web, motion, packaging, OOH, or social content
- Experience using After Effects
- Understanding of designing for digital platforms, responsive websites, and social-first campaigns
- Experience working with strategists, developers, content teams, or performance marketers
Roles and Responsibilities
Creative Development & Execution
- Develop strong, well-crafted design solutions across brand, digital, and campaign outputs. Interpret briefs thoughtfully, contributing ideas that are both creative and strategically aligned.
- Take ownership of projects from concept through to artwork and final delivery. Ensure all work is delivered to a high standard of accuracy, attention to detail, and finish.
Brand Creation
- Contribute to the development of new brand identities from concept through to final execution.
- Translate strategic positioning into compelling visual territories, identity systems, and core brand assets.
- Explore typography, colour, layout, imagery, and graphic devices to create distinctive and ownable brand expressions.
- Develop logo concepts and supporting visual languages that are both creatively strong and commercially appropriate.
Brand & Design Systems Development
- Build comprehensive and scalable brand systems that work across digital, print, and environmental applications.
- Create clear rules, grids, components, and asset libraries that ensure consistency and flexibility.
- Develop brand guidelines and toolkits that enable clients and internal teams to implement the brand effectively.
- Consider usability, accessibility, and practical rollout when constructing visual systems.

Application & Rollout
- Apply brand systems across multiple touchpoints, including websites, social content, presentations, marketing materials, and campaign assets.
- Ensure all outputs are aligned with established brand principles and executed to a high standard of craft.
- Support the evolution and refinement of existing brand systems as client needs grow or shift
Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with Design, Client Services, and Commercial Teams to deliver projects efficiently and effectively.
- Present design ideas clearly and confidently to clients & internal teams.
- Respond positively to feedback, refining work constructively and professionally.
Workflow & Professional Development
- Manage time effectively across multiple projects and deadlines.
- Take responsibility for meeting agreed client timelines and flagging any challenges early.
- Begin to act as a mentor to Junior Designers, providing guidance and feedback.
- Demonstrate a proactive attitude towards learning, development, and expanding skillsets.
