Senior C++ Developer – Trading Strategies & Systems

About the Role

This opportunity allows you to develop trading strategies within the cryptocurrency markets while collaborating with the US-based trading team. We’re looking for a C++ Developer who is either based in the US or in a compatible timezone and can work remotely full-time with the flexibility to adapt to your location. Your primary responsibility will be designing, improving, and automating trading systems that operate globally across cryptocurrency exchanges.


Responsibilities

You will:

  • Transform trading opportunities into profits by improving and inventing strategies for trading and market making, while managing risk and fulfilling market-making obligations.
  • Oversee the entire strategy lifecycle, including:
    • Problem identification and analysis
    • Software development (C++/Python)
    • Ongoing system monitoring and support
  • Develop automated 24/7/365 monitoring systems for trading operations.
  • Create high-performance C++/Python applications leveraging internal APIs for market data and order execution.
  • Work with both new and existing codebases, ensuring scalability and maintainability.
  • Collaborate closely with:
    • Trading teams for strategy refinement and opportunity identification
    • Development teams during system design, code reviews, and architecture discussions
    • Business teams to align systems with market demands and objectives
  • Continuously monitor trading and system performance to ensure optimal technical, risk, and profitability outcomes.
  • Drive improvements to Auros’ technical systems and architecture based on direct experience with trading.
  • Engage in brainstorms for new trading strategies and play an active role in all aspects of software development.

Requirements

Essential

  • Demonstrable experience developing high-performance trading strategies (particularly market making) in either traditional or cryptocurrency markets.
  • In-depth knowledge of low-latency trading algorithms, including:
    • Market making
    • High-frequency arbitrage
    • Mitigations for associated portfolio risks
  • At least three years of experience building clean, maintainable, and performant C++ code in a Linux environment.
  • Experience with latency-optimised, distributed systems designed to handle high transaction volumes robustly.
  • Ability to strike a balance between:
    • Writing reliable, testable, and maintainable code
    • Rapidly deploying new features to exploit trading opportunities
  • Dependability, passion for robust software development, and willingness to:
    • On-call support for systems you develop

Highly Desirable

  • Expertise in network programming, including:
    • UDP, TCP, TLS
    • WebSockets
  • Profiling experience with tools like Cachegrind, Valgrind, or similar for C++ optimization.
  • Hands-on experience configuring and monitoring Linux systems.
  • Inter-process messaging knowledge via shared memory mechanisms.
  • Familiarity with cloud computing infrastructures (e.g., AWS).
