Street Cleansing Operative - 156170
Business Unit: 5230 Hounslow | Location: Hounslow
About the Role
To uphold a clean, safe, and pleasant public environment by performing a diverse range of street cleansing duties, including:
- Emptying public litter bins
- Manual litter picking
- Weeding and sweeping streets
- Ensuring streets and public areas meet high standards of cleanliness and hygiene
Desirable Skills & Training
This role requires a foundation of practical experience. Desirable qualifications or certifications include:
- Banksman
- First Aid – Emergency First Aid @ Work
- Light Plant:
- LP20 Grass Strimmer (petrol)
- LP25 Leaf Blower
- LP31 Water Pressure Washer
- Lone Working compliance
- Manual Handling Training (Pristine Condition)
- NHSS 12D-T1 MWO (Maintenance of Way Order)
- Site-specific Risk Assessment training
- Sharps awareness (if applicable)
Specialist Skills (for weed treatment roles)
If involved in weed treatments, certification in the following may be advantageous:
- City & Guilds-NPTC Level 2 Certificate of Competence in the Safe Use of Pesticides
- NPTC PA1 Foundation Module
- NPTC PA2 (Ground Crop Sprayer or Kerbstone Sprayer)
- Spraying mounted/trailed and vehicle-mounted plant variants equipped with hydraulic nozzles or rotary atomisers
- NPTC PA6 Hand-Held Applicator
- Graffiti Removal Training (incl. Pressure Washer instruction)
- WAMITAB Certificates:
- Level 2 Competence in Street Cleansing
- NVQ Level 2 in Cleaning and Support Services (Highways & Land)
- Familiarity with Bin Lifter Systems (compacting/collection vehicles)

- Fly-tipping intervention

- Strong safety consciousness (self and colleagues, risk awareness)
- Documentation compliance (predominantly digital or manual report submission)
- Adherence to company policy and all reasonable management directives

Hours and Contract
- Type: Permanent, Full-Time
- Hours: 40 per week, Monday to Friday (excluding weekends)
