Street Lighting Highways Electrician – Prysmian Street Lighting
About the Role
Prysmian Street Lighting Department, part of the Prysmian Cables & Systems Utilities Division, was established in the early 1980s to undertake street lighting installation and maintenance projects across the UK.
Operating from depots in Stourport and Atcham, the department currently maintains over 100,000 street lights and illuminated signs in the local area.
Position Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to join our Street Lighting team in the role of Street Lighting Highways Electrician.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting routine maintenance, inspection, testing, and fault rectification of illuminated street furniture and associated equipment, including work at heights.
- Supervising Street Lighting Operatives on-site.
- Working independently or as part of a team.
- Attending mandatory training sessions.
- Installing new equipment and associated works in compliance with:
- Current IEE Regulations for Electrical Installation.
- Relevant contract specifications.
- Supporting the Contract Engineer in compiling Risk Assessments (RAMS) for Prysmian activities.
- Carrying out daily risk assessments at each work location.
- Ensuring personnel under their supervision are provided with clear safety information, instructions, and understanding of protocols.
- Identification and reporting of unsafe/non-compliant machinery, tools, or appliances to the Senior/Contract Engineer.
- Reporting defects, accidents, incidents, dangerous occurrences, near misses, and nonconformities to the Senior/Contract Engineer.
- Driving, operating, and maintaining allocated vehicles, including:
- Reporting vehicle defects/damage.
- Completing daily vehicle reports.
- Maintaining personal tools and equipment.
- Responding to emergencies/breakdown incidents and making damaged equipment safe.
- Ensuring compliance with local and customer-specific safety rules on worksites.
- Keeping records as required.
- Performing any additional duties assigned by the Street Lighting Supervisor.
