Do you want to work in a job which makes a difference to the local community and the people who live there? Working for the City of Doncaster Council as an Operations Manager within our Street Scene service could be perfect for you.
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Street Scene Operations Manager to lead the delivery of high-quality street cleansing and grounds maintenance services across one of Doncaster’s locality areas. This is a key leadership role where you will inspire and manage a diverse operational workforce, ensuring our streets, parks and open spaces are maintained to the highest standards and contribute to our ambitions for a cleaner, greener borough.
Working within a fast-paced environment, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of Street Scene services, driving performance, customer satisfaction and legislative compliance. I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
