Strength and Conditioning Coach

Strength and Conditioning Coach – University of Leeds

Interviews: Expected to be held on Tuesday 28th July 2026

This role is based on the University of Leeds campus, with scope for hybrid working. Flexible working arrangements are available for discussion.

About the Role

Do you have a passion for strength and conditioning and elite sport?

Are you inspiring, an excellent communicator, and do you thrive on building strong working relationships and networks?

At the University of Leeds, we create an environment where student athletes perform at their very best and develop as world-class sportspeople. Our new Gryphon Performance Hub is a reflection of our commitment to achieving this ambition.

As the Strength and Conditioning Coach at the University of Leeds, you will:

  • Design, deliver, and develop a high-quality strength and conditioning (S&C) programme tailor-made for our performance sport athletes.
  • Play a key role in minimising injuries while optimalising performance and long-term athletic development through evidence-based training.
  • Collaborate with coaches, physiotherapists, academic staff, and external partners to shape the strategic direction of performance sport at the university.

Working hours: Full-time (35 hours per week). There will be some ad-hoc requirements to work during evenings and weekends.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, deliver, and refine S&C programmes designed for elite and high-performance athletes.
  • Work as part of a team to ensure soft-tissue screening, injury prevention, and physical testing align with athletic needs.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current best practice, emerging trends, and research in strength and conditioning.
  • Provide guidance and feedback to athletes, support staff, and external coaches.
  • Contribute to staff training sessions and workshops focusing on performance and rehabilitation techniques.
  • Monitor athlete load and provide concern assessment and reporting as needed.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
