Structural Design Engineer

About the Role

Our Technical Solutions Team is the UK Centre of Excellence in innovative design technology. Combined with our International Design & Technology and Product Teams in France, our technical capabilities set the industry standard.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to:

  • Apply your expertise to design and detail temporary works and strengthening solutions
  • Offer challenging and rewarding technical work

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and detail:

    • Temporary works, including bespoke tools
    • Strengthening solutions
  • Justify appropriate construction methods

  • Coordinate and review bridge product designs developed by our sister company FPC

  • Collaborate in the preparation of AIPs (Attestations of Implementation Plans) for temporary works

  • Perform design risk analyses

  • Liaise with:

    • Clients
    • Checkers
    • Other Engineers
  • Assist Company Estimators with the technical aspects of tenders

  • Promote the use of Freyssinet solutions to Clients and Consultants

  • Provide and monitor design programmes

  • Manage internal design processes, including:

    • Assumptions reviews
    • Designs and checks
    • Issuing approved drawings to operation teams and Clients
  • Ensure designs are:

    • Safe
    • Economically optimised

Requirements

  • Qualification: Master’s Degree in Structural Civil Engineering
  • Technical Skills:
    • Solid confidence in structural engineering principles with capability to carry out manual calculations
    • Experience in designing:
      • Steel structures
      • Reinforced concrete structures
  • Software Proficiency:
    • Engineering software: SAP2000 and IDEA StatiCa (advantageous knowledge)
    • CAD software:
      • Autocad (required)
      • SolidWorks (plus)
      • Revit (plus)
    • Advanced working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
