Structural Design Engineer
I'm currently working with a well-established structural engineering consultancy based in Hemel Hempstead that is looking to appoint a Structural Engineer with around 2-5 years' experience to join its growing team.
With a strong reputation across the residential sector, the business delivers a broad range of projects including bespoke residential properties, large-scale housing developments, apartment schemes, and mixed-use developments for a loyal and expanding client base. Continued growth has created an excellent opportunity for an ambitious engineer looking to take the next step in their career within a supportive and collaborative environment.
The Role
As a Structural Engineer, you'll work on projects from concept through to completion, developing your technical expertise while working alongside experienced engineers. You'll gain direct exposure to clients, architects and contractors, taking on increasing responsibility as your career progresses.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing structural solutions for residential and mixed-use developments
- Producing structural calculations, reports and technical drawings
- Assisting with the delivery of multiple projects from inception to completion
- Attending client and design team meetings
- Coordinating with architects, contractors and other consultants
- Carrying out site visits and inspections where required
- Working closely with senior engineers to develop your technical and project management skills

Project Portfolio
You'll gain exposure to a variety of schemes including:

- Housing and apartment schemes

- Occasional commercial and education projects
Requirements
- 2-5 years' experience within a UK structural engineering consultancy
- Good technical design experience across steel, concrete, timber and masonry
- Experience working on residential projects would be advantageous
- A good understanding of UK design standards and building regulations
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Working towards Chartership or keen to begin the process
- Ambitious, proactive and eager to continue developing your career
