Structural Engineer
** Structural Engineer – London & Southeast Region**

Our team is currently engaged in a diverse portfolio—ranging from £500k to £50m+ projects—across key sectors: education, health, defence, and commercial. Responsibilities
As a Structural Engineer at AECOM, you’ll:

Design & Analyse
- Assist in the structural engineering design of complex projects.
- Develop structural designs, calculations, and analysis models for steel/concrete frames and other infrastructure.
- Collaborate with BIM technicians and attend design workshops with multidisciplinary teams.

Project Execution & Leadership
- Work within agreed budgets and schedules, with moderate supervision.
- Take ownership of smaller projects, managing output from design to review.
- Provide guidance to graduate engineers as a mentor and subject matter expert.

Quality & Collaboration
- Contribute to AECOM’s design review process alongside Lead Verifiers.
- Engage professionally with clients, contractors, and external teams.
- Ensure high technical quality and project standards are met.
Requirements
Essential Criteria
- Degree qualification in a relevant discipline (e.g., civil engineering, structural engineering).
- Graduate Membership with either the IStructE / Engineers Ireland or the ICE (Institution of Civil Engineers).

Preferred Experience & Skills
- Work experience in a structural consultancy or related sector.
- Strong technical proficiency with:
- Building engineering software (Tekla, SCIA, TEdDS or similar).
- Steel & concrete frame designs.
- Structural analysis tools.
- Proven ability to:
- Deliver cost-effective design solutions under deadlines.
- Work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment, managing stakeholder relationships.
- Present technical details clearly (written/verbal) in English.
- Business acumen:
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and multi-tasking abilities.
- Excellent interpersonal & negotiation skills.
- Ability to prioritise workloads and respond under pressure.
- Professional skillset:
- Familiarity with BIM (Building Information Modelling) workflows.
- Experience contributing to strategic carbon reduction projects.
