Overview
We are recruiting for a Structural Engineer (or nearing Project Engineer level with relevant experience) to join our southwest team based in Plymouth.
This varied role will enable you to develop and evolve a good understanding of engineering design principles with opportunities to lead elements of design work and to have an active presence on projects to accelerate and enhance your learning.
What you need to do to be effective in this role
- Undertake outline, scheme, and detailed engineering designs as appropriate on projects.
- Carry out detailed design calculations and expand knowledge using the latest design software.
- Ensure calculation packages, drawings, specifications, reports, and other deliverables for projects are to expected quality standards prior to issue.
- Prepare reports and general correspondence as required in connection with projects.
- Undertake survey inspections and produce written reports on findings, set out in a logical manner with appropriate recommendations.
- Liaise with other members of the design and construction teams, both internal and external, representing the engineering team.
- Assist in preparing design programmes for production deliverables.
- Visit sites during the construction phase to monitor progress and provide advice to contractors.
- Ensure that Ridge document management and QA procedures are complied with.
- When required, assist other members and disciplines of the team to complete tasks particularly in relation to meeting project deadlines.

- BEng (Hons) (or above such as MEng (Hons) / MSc) in Civil or Structural Engineering at grade 2:1 or above
- A solid foundation of work experience in engineering and / or on-site.
- A good basic understanding of the regulatory requirements including Eurocodes.
- Experience using both AutoCAD and Revit software packages would be desirable.
- Excellent communication skills, in both written and spoken English.
- Actively working towards and pursue professional development leading to a professional qualification.
- Hold a current UK driving licence.
