Structural Engineer
Location: Truro, Cornwall
Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 depending on experience
We are working with a well-established structural engineering consultancy looking to appoint a Structural Engineer to join their growing team in Truro, Cornwall.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an engineer with 2+ years’ experience to develop their career within a supportive consultancy, working on a varied portfolio of residential and commercial projects across Devon and Cornwall. Based in one of the UK’s most desirable locations, this role offers the opportunity to enjoy an excellent work-life balance while progressing professionally with support from experienced Chartered Engineers.
What you’ll be doing
- Deliver structural engineering designs, calculations, drawings, and technical reports.
- Undertake structural analysis across steel, concrete, timber, and masonry structures.
- Carry out site visits, inspections, and structural assessments.
- Prepare technical recommendations and remedial solutions where required.
- Liaise with clients, architects, contractors, and project teams.
- Support projects from concept design through to completion.
- Ensure designs meet relevant British Standards, Codes of Practice, and Eurocodes.

What we’re looking for
- Degree qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering (BSc/BEng/MSc/MEng or equivalent) with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in structural engineering design, including calculations and drawings.
- Experience working on building structures, ideally within residential and/or commercial sectors, with a strong understanding of structural design principles, British Standards, Codes of Practice and Eurocodes.
- Confident using structural design software such as Tedds, Tekla Structures or similar, with AutoCAD experience.
- Ability to support project proposals, quotations and undertake site visits to gather design information where required.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with clients, architects, contractors and colleagues.
- Full UK driving licence required, with a desire to continue professional development through CPD and progress towards chartership with IStructE or ICE.
