Structural Engineer Opportunity

About the Role

We have an opportunity for a skilled Structural Engineer with strong experience delivering new buildings, large surveys, and refurbishment projects, to join our team at our Woodstock, Oxford office. You will assist in providing a wide range of structural engineering services across diverse projects, from large complex schemes to smaller client-focused tasks. Our clients span various sectors, including:

  • F1 Teams
  • Airports
  • Schools/universities
  • Contractors
  • Developers
  • Local authorities

Located on the verge of Blenheim Palace, we offer free parking access and stunning park grounds for lunchtime breaks.


Responsibilities

You will be responsible for:

  • Preparing outline designs for structural schemes based on client briefs
  • Conducting detailed design calculations to Eurocodes using 3D design software
  • Co-ordinating designs with other design disciplines and specialists, utilising BIM (Building Information Modelling)
  • Helping produce detailed design drawings and specifications for tender processes
  • Field visits during the construction phase to monitor progress on-site
  • Conducting structural surveys of existing buildings
  • Advising on structural issues and analysing/reporting defects in existing structures and buildings
  • Quality-checking incoming and outgoing documents, including contractors’ proposal documentation

Requirements

To be effective in this role, you should have:

  • A degree in structural or civil engineering
  • Working towards professional chartership status
  • Proven experience in structural design and practical construction site experience
  • A proactive attitude with a strong ‘can-do’ mindset
  • Team player skills—able to collaborate effectively within the structural engineering team, the wider office, company, and with clients and collaborators

Key Technical & Practical Skills

  • A good understanding of basic structural behaviour
  • Proficiency with structural software, including TEKLA, Masterseries, SCIA, and TEDDS
  • Knowledge of basic regulatory requirements, including Eurocodes
  • Awareness of sustainability issues in structural design
  • Competency in report writing and clear design communication
