AECOM is seeking a Structural Engineer to join one of our South West offices: Bristol, Plymouth, Exeter, Cardiff, or Basingstoke.
About the Role: You’ll assist in the structural engineering design of complex projects, delivering work on budget and schedule under moderate supervision. The role will also involve:
- Leading smaller-scale projects
- Providing technical guidance to graduate engineers

Key Responsibilities:
- Production of structural designs
- Managing and coordinating design input and output
- Collaborating with BIM technicians
- Engaging in internal design review processes with Lead Verifiers
- Attending design workshops with multidisciplinary teams
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have:
✅ Proven ability to:
- Develop structural design solutions
- Conduct structural assessments and calculations
- Contribute effectively in multidisciplinary teams
✅ Experience working on:
- Steel and concrete frames
- Projects involving external design teams and contractors
✅ Proficiency in structural engineering software (e.g., Tekla Structures, SCIA Engineer, TEDDS)
✅ Strong communication skills (written and verbal in English) for client and stakeholder interactions
✅ Interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with:
- Careful attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise under pressure
✅ Security clearance (or eligibility to obtain one)
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering (or equivalent experience)
- Relevant work experience in a consultancy or engineering environment
