The Opportunities

We have fantastic opportunities for a wide range of Structures Engineers to join our Amey Consulting team across Scotland and the North of England, with offices in Motherwell, Edinburgh, Newcastle upon Tyne, York, Manchester and Sheffield.

We welcome applications from Structures Engineers, Senior Structures Engineers and Lead Senior Structures Engineers who can commute to any of these locations on a hybrid basis.

Amey delivers engineering consultancy services to infrastructure clients throughout the UK and overseas. Our experienced engineering teams support the whole asset lifecycle through design, construction, inspection, assessment and maintenance. What You Will Bring To Us

We are interested in hearing from candidates who can demonstrate experience in some or all of the following:

  • Structural engineering experience within highways, bridges, rail, civil structures or wider infrastructure sectors
  • Experience producing, reviewing or leading the development of designs, calculations, drawings and technical documentation
  • Knowledge of structural assessment, inspection, design development and engineering delivery processes
  • Ability to deliver technically sound engineering solutions in line with relevant standards, codes and client requirements
  • Experience working collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to build effective relationships with clients and colleagues
  • Knowledge of health, safety, risk management and CDM principles within design and construction environments
  • Experience using relevant structural engineering software and analytical tools such as LUSAS, MIDAS, Autodesk Structural Bridge Design or equivalent
  • Commercial awareness and an understanding of delivering projects to quality, programme and budget requirements
  • A proactive and collaborative approach, with a passion for innovation and continuous improvement
  • Degree qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Professional membership, Incorporated Engineer (IEng) or Chartered Engineer (CEng) status, or progression toward professional accreditation

Role Level Opportunities

Structures Engineers

  • Deliver structural engineering solutions and technical outputs across a variety of infrastructure projects
  • Support project delivery from concept through to completion
  • Develop designs, calculations and reports
  • Contribute to the development of junior team members whilst progressing your own professional development

Senior Structures Engineers

  • Lead the delivery of bridges and civil structures projects
  • Undertake and review design work, assessments, inspections and technical reports
  • Mentor and support engineers and technicians
  • Manage project deliverables, client relationships and project performance

Lead Senior Structures Engineers

  • Provide technical leadership across complex infrastructure programmes
  • Lead engineering teams and oversee project delivery
  • Manage project budgets, risks and commercial performance
  • Support business growth through client engagement, bid development and work-winning activities
