JPSI is looking for a new starter to join our growing team as a Structural Investigation Technician.
This opportunity is for someone who is practical, reliable and keen to develop a long-term career within the structural investigation and construction testing industry. Previous experience in construction, materials testing, site labouring or a similar hands-on role would be beneficial, but it is not essential, as training will be provided.
The role will involve supporting our site operatives on a wide variety of projects throughout the UK, including bridges, buildings and other major structures.
Typical duties may include:
- Concrete drilling, coring and sampling
- Reinforcement scanning and cover-meter surveys
- Visual condition surveys
- Non-destructive testing of concrete and construction materials
- Assisting with intrusive structural investigations
- Setting up equipment and recording accurate site information
- Working safely in accordance with project RAMS and JPSI procedures
We are looking for someone who:
- Is dependable, hardworking and willing to learn
- Is comfortable working outdoors and in active construction environments
- Can work away from home when required
- Is flexible regarding early starts, night shifts and occasional weekend work
- Takes pride in producing accurate, high-quality work
- Works well as part of a small and professional team
- Holds a full UK driving licence

What is on offer:
- Salary of £27,000–£30,000, depending on experience
- Permanent, full-time position
- 40hr working week with site work involving early starts, nights, weekends and staying away.
- Additional payments for night works and staying away
- Generous holiday entitlement, pension, training, qualifications, expenses, accommodation and company vehicle arrangements.

Experience is not the most important factor. The right attitude, work ethic and willingness to learn are what we value most.
The position will involve travel throughout the UK. Applicants based around Lancaster or Barnsley would be particularly well located, although we are happy to consider suitable applicants from other areas.

Applicants based around Lancaster or Barnsley would be particularly well located for the role. However, applications from other areas will be considered where the applicant can reliably travel to the required meeting points and project locations.
Relocation assistance is not currently available. Any relocation required to undertake the position would be at the applicant’s own arrangement and expense.
