Job Description: Student Fees Manager

This role is full time, permanent.

Closing date: 23:59 on 12th July 2026

Interview date: 21st July 2026

About The Role

The University of Reading is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Student Fees Manager to lead the administration and continuous improvement of tuition fee processes within Student Services.

Tuition fee income is a vital part of the University's operations. In this role, you will ensure that students, sponsors and external stakeholders receive a high-quality, accurate and transparent service throughout the student lifecycle-from fee setup and billing to resolving complex cases.

  • Manage the administration of student fee data and processes, ensuring fees are correctly set, charged and aligned with University policy.
  • Oversee accurate tuition fee billing and resolve complex or non-standard cases.
  • Analyse and interpret data to identify issues, trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Manage relationships with external stakeholders including the Student Loans Company, sponsors, and embassies.
  • Ensure accurate submission and maintenance of student finance data and course information.
  • Contribute to policy development and provide expert advice on tuition fee regulations and processes.
  • Lead process improvement initiatives and support system developments.
  • Line manage a Student Fees and Funding Administrator, supporting their development while ensuring high-quality service delivery.

About You

  • Strong analytical capability, excellent organisational skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Confident working with complex data and systems and able to communicate clearly with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Experience of working with large, complex data sets and systems.
  • Strong Excel and IT skills, with the ability to analyse and interpret data.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience of managing or supervising staff.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Experience of improving processes or implementing system changes.
  • A good understanding of the UK Student Loans system and financial administration processes would be advantageous.

Additional Information

  • This is a full-time, permanent role. Some weekend working may be required during peak periods such as Open Days and Welcome Week.
  • This role is campus based, although there may be some opportunity for working from home with line management approval.
