The Student Finance Officer is a full-time, on-site role based in Birmingham, responsible for supporting learners with all aspects of their financial journey. Day-to-day tasks include:
- Advising students on funding options, tuition fees, and payment plans
- Processing financial aid applications
- Maintaining accurate financial records related to student accounts
- Preparing and reviewing financial statements and reports
- Reconciling student balances
- Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and internal policies
The role involves:
- Collaborating closely with admissions, academic, and operations teams to provide clear, empathetic communication and timely financial information
- Proactively monitoring student financial risk
- Resolving queries
- Contributing to continuous improvement of finance-related processes and systems
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong finance-related skills, including Finance, Financial Statements, and Financial Reporting.
- Candidates should possess robust Analytical Skills to interpret data, identify trends, and support informed decision-making.
- Candidates should possess clear and professional Communication skills for engaging with students, colleagues, and external partners.
- Relevant experience in student finance, education finance, or accounts administration is beneficial.
- Proficiency with spreadsheets and finance or student information systems is advantageous.
- Strong attention to detail, numerical accuracy, and the ability to manage multiple priorities are important.
- A qualification in finance, accounting, business, or a related field is preferred, or equivalent practical experience.
- Knowledge of UK higher education funding mechanisms and regulations is an asset.
