Student SCPHN School Nurse - Surrey
Job Introduction Are You Ready to Train as a School Nurse?
HCRG Care Group is excited to offer funded SCPHN (Specialist Community Public Health Nursing) training posts for the course starting in January 2027.
We are looking for dedicated, reflective, and dynamic Nurses or Midwives who are passionate about making a real difference to children, families, and communities across Surrey.
This year we have 2 School Nurse SCPHN student posts available. The course is delivered exclusively through Oxford Brookes University and leads to a Master's level qualification.
About The Course
The SCPHN programme at Oxford Brookes University is a Master's level course (PG Dip / MSc) and is available on both a full-time and part-time basis. The course combines online distance learning with supervised practice placements:
Online distance learning - 2 days per week (theoretical and academic component) Practice placement - 3 days per week (clinical learning and hands-on experience) The 50/50 split of theory and practice ensures you develop both academic and clinical skills Upon completion you will be registered as a SCPHN and eligible to apply for Band 6 School Nurse role

Entry Requirements
To be considered for a student post you must meet the following criteria:
Essential:
Registered with the NMC as a Nurse or Midwife UK resident Demonstrate either: achievement of an undergraduate degree OR completion of a Diploma in Nursing A full UK driving licence is required
Desirable:
Completion of a recent Level 6 (or above) module

Main Responsibilities
As a Student SCPHN School Nurse you will play a vital role in ensuring that every child gets the best possible start in life, developing the skills to lead the Healthy Child Programme .
Support school-age children and young people to achieve their health and wellbeing potential Apply theoretical knowledge to practice placements to develop high-quality, evidence-based assessment and care Safeguard and protect children, young people and vulnerable adults Travel across Surrey to meet both educational and clinical requirements of the course
