Student Services Officer & First Aid Lead

Harris Academy Bermondsey, London

We are looking for a proactive and committed individual to join Harris Academy Bermondsey as Student Services Officer and First Aid Lead, replacing staff on maternity leave.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a lively and dynamic inner London secondary school catering for students aged 11–18.


Salary

£26,887 per annum (37.5 hours per week, 38 weeks per year).

About Harris Academy Bermondsey

Harris Academy Bermondsey is an all-girls academy in central London, where students develop:

Administrative & Student Support

  • Run the Student Information Centre, ensuring efficient, welcoming day-to-day services
  • Handle uniform administration (supervision, record-keeping, parent communications)

Medical & First Aid Leadership

  • Assess and administer first aid, maintaining accurate medical records
  • Oversee maintenance of emergency medication and availability
  • Support Individual Health Care Plans in collaboration with stakeholders

Logistics & Compliance

  • Manage Lost Property and liaise with parents & external support
  • Handle student medication storage, compliance, and monitoring
  • Ensure adherence to infection control, hygiene, and data protection

Safeguarding & Safety

  • Lead first aid training, certification, and site coverage
  • Promote emergency preparation and compliance with safety policies
  • Monitor, record, and analyse first aid logs, identifying trends for improvement

Qualifications & Experience

Preferred/Desirable Skills & Background: Experience with broader safeguarding requirements is essential, and candidates should have:

  • First Aid qualification
  • Confirmed knowledge of:
    • School safeguarding procedures
    • Confidentiality and Microsoft software
  • Minimum three years’ administrative experience
  • Breadth of experience in:
    • Supporting students with medical needs
    • Organising training sessions
    • Working with children and families
    • Using spreadsheets to analyse incident logs and proposing action plans
