About us
The Afe Babalola Centre for Transnational Education (ABC) at King’s College London seeks to appoint a Student Success Officer (SSO), based in King’s Foundations in the Centre for International Education and Language (CIEL).
The Afe Babalola Centre for Transnational Education at King’s College London is focused on expanding access to high-quality, inclusive and flexible education across Africa, enabling talented young people to develop the skills, knowledge and mindsets needed to contribute meaningfully to their communities and the wider world. Through collaborative, transnational programmes co-created with partners, the Centre seeks to remove barriers to education and support learners to thrive in a global context.
King’s Centre for International Education and Languages (CIEL) is a new, cross-cutting Centre designed to widen the educational reach of King’s. It brings together three established areas – King’s Foundations, Summer Programmes and the King’s Language Centre – to further advance educational excellence and enhance the student experience. The Centre holds significant expertise in international education and contributes to the rich diversity of the King’s student community.
About the role
The Student Success Officer provides high-quality, proactive, and personalised support to students enrolled on the fully online Postgraduate Certificate in Online Learning and Teaching and the Foundation Certificate in Applied Health at King’s College London. The post holder plays a key role in supporting student engagement, progression and success across the full student lifecycle in a digital learning environment. Working with an assigned caseload, the SSO applies a data-informed approach to monitor attendance, assessment and engagement, identifying students at risk of disengagement and supporting timely, coordinated interventions with Personal Tutors and academic and professional services colleagues.
Aligned to the Centre’s mission of widening access and enabling success at scale, the SSO ensures that students are effectively supported to navigate their studies, overcome barriers and remain engaged in their learning. The role also manages the student virtual helpdesk, contributes to induction and onboarding, and supports initiatives that foster belonging, inclusion and active participation in a diverse and international learning community.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
