Do you have experience of leading student voice activity in higher education and a passion for enhancing the student experience?

Birkbeck, University of London, is seeking an experienced Student Voice Strategy Manager to lead the development and delivery of our strategic approach to student engagement and feedback. This is an exciting opportunity to shape how the student voice informs decision-making and enhancement across the institution.

The role will take responsibility for Birkbeck’s approach to external and internal student surveys, module evaluation, student voice meetings, and other quality assurance processes that enable students to share and influence their educational experience.

You will play a key role in developing innovative and effective mechanisms for gathering, analysing and responding to student feedback, ensuring students remain central to Birkbeck’s improvement activities.

Based within Academic Standards and Quality, part of the Education and Student Experience Directorate, you will work closely with academic schools, professional services teams, and student representatives across the University to strengthen student engagement and support a culture of partnership with students.

As The Student Voice Strategy Manager, You Will

  • Provide leadership and management on the implementation of student voice activities across the student journey and institution to increase the impact of student feedback and student engagement.
  • Lead on the University's liaison with the Student’s Union Student Voice Manager, Birkbeck’s Student Leaders and others to provide clear advice on student voice matters, and deliver briefings on exercises.
  • Play a lead role in the design, presentation and enhancement of student feedback data dashboards for use by key stakeholders.
  • Manage the processes related to Birkbeck’s internal student survey tools (currently Blue by Explorance) and train other members of the Academic Standards and Quality Team.
  • Manage the processes on Birkbeck’s engagement with externally-run student surveys for example the National Student Survey, Postgraduate Taught Experience Survey, Postgraduate Research Experience Survey.

To be successful in the role of Student Voice Strategy Manager you will:

  • Have strong IT skills, the ability to craft effective surveys, and the ability to translate findings into concise reports for different audiences.
  • Be comfortable presenting your reports and enjoy working across an organisation, providing advice and support whilst managing your workload independently and effectively.
  • Be sensitive to students from different backgrounds and in managing a feedback process so all parties feel it is productive and valuable.
  • Be proactive in identifying areas for development and enhancement.
  • Be comfortable working with and advising staff at all levels.

Salary And Benefits

£51,713 rising to £60,858 per annum, Grade 8 on the College's London Pay Scale which includes a consolidated London Weighting Allowance.

Benefits of working at Birkbeck: a competitive salary and pension scheme, 31 days paid leave, flexible working arrangements, generous benefits in the HE sector, and being located in the heart of Bloomsbury, Euston, London.

Contract

Permanent, open-ended contract. Full-time (35 hours per week). Flexible and hybrid working offered with at least two days a week in the office, and meetings as and when required.
