Student worker Full-Stack Developer – Food Tech

Location: Ghent (on-site with hybrid working options)

About Shelfion

Shelfion is an ambitious early-stage food tech start-up focused on improving shelf-life determination in the food industry. We combine advanced software with laboratory-based methodologies to help food companies accurately assess product shelf-life and food safety. Our mission is to strengthen sustainability and resilience in food systems through scientifically grounded technology and close collaboration with industry partners. We operate in a niche B2B market, delivering high-quality, high-value solutions.

What makes this role unique

  • You’ll work on high-impact B2B software used by professional users, where quality, clarity, and correctness matter more than scale.
  • The software directly supports real-world food safety and shelf-life decisions, giving your work tangible impact beyond the screen.
  • You’ll collaborate closely with scientists and domain experts, translating experimental data and scientific models into practical, usable software.
  • Focus is on thoughtful engineering and problem-solving.
  • You will approach development with a customer-oriented mindset, ensuring your work meets the needs of real users.

If you want to build software that supports complex decision-making and understand the domain behind the code, this student role offers a rare opportunity to learn, contribute, and make a real impact.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
