About the Role

The Crowd are delighted to be partnering with a highly respected, internationally recognised architecture and interior design studio in their search for an exceptional Studio & Design Director to join their London team.

This is a rare opportunity to step into a pivotal leadership position within one of the industry’s most admired design studios, working on an outstanding portfolio of luxury hospitality, high-end residential and F&B projects across the globe.

Reporting directly to the Founders, you will play a key role in shaping the creative, technical and operational success of the studio. Leading a large and talented multidisciplinary team, you will oversee the delivery of multiple complex projects simultaneously, ensuring exceptional design quality, technical excellence and commercial performance at every stage. This role requires a natural leader who can inspire designers, drive collaboration, strengthen studio processes and maintain the highest standards of project delivery. Alongside overseeing day-to-day operations, you will contribute to the wider strategic direction of the business, acting as a trusted partner to the Founders as the business continues to grow internationally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, technical and operational delivery of multiple concurrent international hospitality, residential and F&B projects
  • Inspire, mentor and develop a multidisciplinary team, fostering a positive, collaborative and high-performing studio culture
  • Work closely with the Founders and senior leadership to shape design direction and drive excellence across the studio
  • Guide projects through every stage, from concept design through to technical delivery, construction and completion
  • Present design concepts confidently to clients and stakeholders, building trusted long-term relationships.
  • Oversee studio resourcing, project allocation and delivery programmes to ensure projects are delivered efficiently and profitably
  • Champion high technical standards, design quality and continuous improvement across the studio
  • Support Senior Designers and Associates, providing guidance on project delivery, client management and team development
  • Contribute to wider business strategy, operational improvements and the continued growth of the practice
  • Act as an ambassador for the studio, representing the business with professionalism and integrity

Key Skills / Requirements

  • Significant experience operating at Director level within a high-end architecture or interior design consultancy
  • Proven experience leading and developing large multidisciplinary design teams (circa 25+ people)
  • Deep understanding of interior architecture, FF&E, furniture and product, and spatial storytelling
  • Architecturally qualified highly advantageous, with good connections within a competing market
  • Commercially aware, with experience managing budgets, P&L and project performance
  • Technically confident, with solid knowledge of construction methods and building regulations
  • An inspiring leader who brings out the best in others and thrives in a collaborative environment
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
