The Opportunity

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Engineer / Site Agent to join a major civil engineering project delivering a number of technically challenging infrastructure packages. This is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of key sections of work, leading engineering and operational teams while ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently, and to programme.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the engineering delivery of multiple civils packages, with opportunities to become involved in both infrastructure and earthworks operations. The role offers the chance to work on a high-profile project with the potential for further opportunities upon completion.

The Role

As Senior Engineer / Site Agent, you will be responsible for the planning, engineering, management, and successful delivery of a range of complex civil engineering works. You will lead site teams comprising Sub Agents, Foremen, Site Engineers, and multiple operational gangs, ensuring all works are completed in accordance with programme, quality, and safety requirements.

The role will involve both pre-construction planning and live site delivery, requiring strong technical knowledge, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to coordinate multiple work fronts simultaneously.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of major infrastructure and civil engineering packages.
  • Manage works including utility ducting, reinforced concrete interfaces, earthworks, road formation, and associated civil engineering activities.
  • Oversee the installation of medium voltage (MV), low voltage (LV), communications, street lighting, and potable water infrastructure.
  • Take responsibility for technically challenging backfilling operations around reinforced concrete structures and buildings.
  • Develop construction methodologies, sequencing, and delivery programmes during pre-construction.
  • Manage Sub Agents, Foremen, Site Engineers, and operational teams to ensure efficient project delivery.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, plant, labour, and material resources.
  • Ensure all engineering works comply with design specifications and quality standards.
  • Monitor programme performance and implement solutions to maintain project milestones.
  • Produce and review RAMS, ITPs, quality documentation, and engineering records.
  • Maintain excellent health, safety, environmental, and quality standards across all operations.
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, and the wider project team throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Senior Engineer, Site Agent, or Sub Agent on major civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong engineering background with experience in earthworks, reinforced concrete, highways, utilities, or heavy civils.
  • Excellent Leadership Skills With Experience Managing Multidisciplinary Site Teams.
  • Strong understanding of construction methodologies, programme management, and quality assurance.
  • Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
  • Ability to lead technically complex work packages from planning through to completion.

Essential Qualifications

  • CSCS Card
  • SMSTS (preferred)
  • HNC/HND or Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
