Sub Agent Role – VolkerStevin (Plymouth)

Opportunity: Join our growing team as a Sub Agent on our flagship framework in Plymouth. Multiple roles available in a high-profile, long-term programme delivering complex and rewarding civil engineering works.
As a Sub Agent, you’ll:
- Apply both technical expertise and leadership
- Bridge between engineering teams, Site Agents, and Project Managers
- Ensure smooth project delivery, strong collaboration, and successful outcomes

Overview
Responsible for the delivery of the construction phase of assigned works (or sections of a site) for a large-scale scheme. Essential tasks include:
- Receiving and issuing instructions from the Agent/Project Manager to ensure smooth execution of construction works
- Overseeing site-wide SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment, Quality) performance
Key Accountabilities
Core Responsibilities
- Management accountability for:
- Site SHEQ performance, including compliance reviews
- Risk/change/opportunity identification, with feedback to Agent/Project Manager for resolution
- Development and monitoring ofWorks. Examples may include: Bahnherren (Client), Associates, Consultants, Contractors.
- Ongoing site/client interface management to maintain excellent operational relations.
Detailed Responsibilities
Construction
- Deliver works safely, with end-to-end site management responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with all statutory provisions applicable to construction and related industries
- Develop and implement:
- Site Management Plan (SMP)
- Environmental Control Plan (ECP)
- Conduct assessments for:
- Risks (including temporary works)
- Temporary works compliance
- Lifting operations (ensure Approved Person (AP) and lift supervisors are appointed)
- Service Co-ordinator engagement
- Excavation recording by site supervision
- COSHH assessments and communication to relevant personnel

About You
We’re looking for a candidate with:
Qualifications
- Technical qualification, e.g.:
- Degree in Civil Engineering
- HND (Civil Engineering)
- 6+ Years of experience in heavy civil engineering
Experience & Skills
- Proven ability to develop Work Package Plans, Task Briefing Sheets, and safe systems of work
- In-depth knowledge of Safety, Quality, and Environmental (SQE) principles
- Civil engineering background with hands-on site experience
