About The Role

At Balfour Beatty, we're delivering some of the UK's most significant infrastructure projects, creating lasting value for communities while supporting the country's journey to Net Zero. We're looking for an experienced Sub Agent to join our team on our NZT Project based in Newcastle.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the successful delivery of a major civil engineering project, working alongside a highly experienced team on a complex and challenging scheme. If you're passionate about delivering excellence, thrive in a fast-paced environment and are looking to progress your career with an industry leader, we'd love to hear from you.

As a Sub Agent, you'll support the Project Manager and Agent in the safe, efficient and successful delivery of construction activities. You'll take ownership of sections of work, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards.

What you'll be doing

As a Sub Agent You Will

  • Managing day-to-day site operations and coordinating subcontractors, suppliers and direct labour.
  • Planning and delivering works in accordance with programme requirements.
  • Promoting and maintaining the highest standards of health, safety and environmental performance.
  • Monitoring progress, identifying risks and implementing solutions to keep works on track.
  • Managing quality assurance processes and ensuring works comply with project specifications.
  • Preparing and reviewing RAMS, permits and construction documentation.
  • Supporting commercial activities including cost control, change management and procurement.
  • Building strong relationships with clients, designers, stakeholders and the wider project team.

Who we're looking for

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
