Highways Sub Agent (Drainage and Structures)

Location: Suffolk

Rate: GBP400 - GBP450 per day (LTD or PAYE)

Start: ASAP

Duration: 80 Weeks (Long-term project)

Project Overview

We are seeking an experienced Sub Agent to oversee the delivery of deep drainage networks and structural concrete elements on a major highway scheme in Suffolk. This is a secure, ultra-long-term contract package offering 80 weeks of continuous work.

Working closely with the Section Agent and Project Manager, you will manage a team of Site Engineers and subcontractors. You will take full ownership of look-ahead programmes, technical management, and health and safety compliance, ensuring your section of the project is delivered safely, to budget, and in accordance with National Highways specifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Section Management: Take full responsibility for the day-to-day coordination and execution of highway drainage, attenuation, and structural packages.
  • Programming and Planning: Produce and manage detailed short-term look-ahead programmes (3-week / 4-week), tracking progress against the master schedule.
  • Engineering and Technical Control: Manage and mentor the site engineering team. Oversee technical submittals, method statements, and temporary works requirements, ensuring all Inspection Test Plans (ITPs) and quality documentation are closed out correctly.
  • Health, Safety and Environment: Lead and maintain a strong safety culture on site. Write, review, and brief Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS), and ensure strict adherence to CDM 2015 standards.
  • Commercial Support: Manage plant, material, and labour allocations efficiently. Track site variations, record delays, and collaborate with the commercial team to monitor section costs.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
