We are recruiting System / Principal Engineers and Technical Directors for a growing Engineering Safety Consultancy which specialist interest in Maritime, Naval, Nuclear, Submarine sectors.

System Engineers – Mid-Level to Senior

With a proven track-record of effective working as a key part of a talented team of highly experienced and self-motivated professional engineers, the Senior Engineer will be responsible for delivery across complex, hazardous projects in highly regulated fields, such as nuclear, maritime, aviation or ordnance. Capable of working with minimal supervision, the Senior Engineer is able to lead small teams of peers to deliver clearly defined, yet complex, technical projects. The successful candidate will have the ability to think strategically, applying their knowledge to a range of new technical challenges, whilst ensuring good partnerships and quality assurance are maintained.

The Job Duties

  • Empowers teams of engineers to deliver technical aspects of a project
  • Capable of collaborative working with minimal supervision
  • Undertake activities as directed by Technical Directors and Principal Engineers
  • Conduct complex technical investigations
  • Articulates project outcomes across a broad stakeholder base
  • Provide technical guidance for peers as required
  • Responsible for maintaining excellent customer relations and providing quality assurance
  • Implement company policies

Principal Systems Engineer – Nuclear/Maritime/Aviation

With a track-record of managing talented teams of highly experienced and self-motivated professional engineers, the Principal Engineer will be responsible for leadership and delivery across complex, hazardous projects in highly regulated fields, such as nuclear, maritime, aviation or ordnance. Self-motivated and requiring no supervision, a Subject Matter Expert in their own right with a capability of transferring their broad range of skills to new and exciting technologies, as well as providing valuable strategic insight into the company’s future direction.

The Job Duties

  • Directs, supervises, motivates and inspires the activities of staff
  • Initiates and manages complex technical projects
  • Provide guidance for engineers as needed and seeks out development opportunities
  • Collect, interpret and utilise evidence to inform, negotiate, influence and innovate projects
  • Make key project decisions
  • Articulate proposals and key project outcomes to a broad stakeholder base
  • Propose opportunities to take advantage of market opportunities, reduce operational threats, forestall business risks, and maximises core strengths

Technical Director – Nuclear/Maritime/Aviation

With a proven track-record of organising talented teams of highly experienced and self-motivated professional engineers, the Technical Director will have experience of senior management and strategic financial planning and demonstrate the potential and career ambition to deliver across complex, hazardous projects in highly regulated fields, such as nuclear, maritime, aviation or ordnance. The Technical Director will be expected to demonstrate the ability to think and act strategically, showing evidence of effective communication and people skills to lead colleagues through change, is strong on planning and organising, and is highly numerate, structured and logical in their approach. This is a senior leadership role that will help define, drive and deliver the company’s strategic initiatives at an exciting time through a period of significant growth.

The Job Duties

  • Directs, plans and organises the activities of all staff and allocates resources
  • Provides leadership for business continuity
  • Responsible for managing, challenging, empowering and developing staff
  • Influences strategic policies
  • Maintains budgets for individual projects
  • Liaisons with Board of Directors to ensure delivery of strategic intent

Essential Requirements

  • Holding at least a BEng degree with substantial Postgraduate underpinning knowledge
  • Recognised as a Technical Expert within own discipline
  • Professionally Registered as a Chartered Engineer with the UK Engineering Council
  • Member, or Fellow (preferred) of a UK Professional Engineering Institution
  • Committed to participating in professional development activities and own professional development
  • 15+ years’ experience in a highly regulated engineering discipline
