Job Purpose
We are seeking a seasoned Subsea Production Systems Engineer to join our Subsea and Pipelines team, delivering technical excellence across the discipline.
The successful candidate will provide input and expertise in the design, definition, and delivery of subsea production systems throughout all project phases—including concept development, execution, installation, commissioning, and operational support. This encompasses system architecture, package management for subsea production systems in traditional oil and gas projects, and energy transition solutions, such as Carbon Capture and Underground Storage (CCUS).
Job Scope
Typical responsibilities include:
- Definition of subsea production system equipment, and subsea architectures for concept and Front-End Engineering & Design (FEED) studies, contributing to the selection and process for initial field layouts.
- Undertaking specialist studies for system expansion, life extension, fault finding, and fault rectification.
- Package management for design, procurement, installation, and commissioning of new systems and equipment.
- Participation in operations support and system integrity management.
- Providing input to interface engineering, subsea systems engineering, and technical management.

Core Accountabilities
Assess, Select Phase
Deliver subsea production discipline engineering critical tasks during project control and assurance, ensuring Project Control and Assurance Plan (PCAP) control points are met by performing tasks such as:
- Development of various options for the subsea production system.
- Specifying functional and performance requirements for the design of competitive Subsea Control Systems.
- Producing essential technical documents, such as subsea field layouts, concept select reports, subsea control system preliminary design package, and basis for design.
Key contributions include:
- Assessing and contributing to cost & schedule estimates.
- Risk Register and risk assessments.
- Submitting findings for integrated technical reviews.
Define & Execute Phases
Perform discipline-critical tasks to deliver or support the following:
- Vendor technical deliverables and documentation.
- Interfacing with and collecting design input data from key client disciplines.
- Technical interface management with external stakeholders.
- Verifying technical requirements as documented in Basis for Design Education Programs (BDEP).
- Witnessing Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and System Integration Tests (SITs).
- Delivering vendors’ as-built records and system handover to client assets.
- Responding professionally to technical queries.
Ensure alignment with Project Control and Assurance Plan (PCAP) outputs:
- Cost & schedule estimates.
- Risk Register.
- Risk assessments (e.g., HAZID, HAZOP).
- Integrated technical reviews.

Experience & Qualifications
Technical Requirements
- Extensive experience in subsea production systems and control technologies.
- In-depth knowledge of subsea production architectures, including compliance with relevant codes and standards.
- Familiarity with subsea control/communication systems, such as umbilicals, hydraulic components.
- Working knowledge of:
- Subsea XT hardware (e.g., XT run tools, Tubing Hangers, choke valves, tree skids).
- Protection requirements and standards (e.g., **API 17D, 6A wolltechnistral").
- Ability to understand mechanical analysis reports, FEA assessments and Mathcad calculations.
- Conduct and overlook Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs), System Integration Tests (SITs).
Stakeholder Engagement
- Strong communication skills and experience in stakeholder engagement.
- Proven ability to prepare comprehensive technical reports.
Industry and Project Experience
- Relevant experience from manufacturing, consultancy, OEM design, or offshore environments.
- Hands-on experience in Front-End Engineering (FEED) and early project phases, including greenfield and brownfield environments.
- A track record of delivering, installing, and commissioning subsea production systems.
- Experience dealing with clients from an end-to-end project standpoint.
Requirements
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a UK work locale.
- Attaining and retaining the legal right to work in the UK.
