Substance Misuse Clinical Lead - HMP Low Newton

Lead Nurse – Secure Substance Misuse Service

Responsibilities:

  • Take daily coordination and clinical leadership of the substance misuse service within a secure environment
  • Provide expert clinical oversight, promoting best practice and safe, effective, person-centred care for patients with substance misuse and associated physical and mental health needs
  • Work as part of an integrated Clinical and Psychosocial Recovery Team, delivering assessment, care planning, implementation, and evaluation
  • Offer clinical advice and intervention in line with national guidance and local policy
  • Act as the clinical escalation point and provide supervision, mentorship, and support to nursing staff and allied professionals

Key Skills & Abilities

  • Strong clinical nursing skills for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care in complex substance misuse cases
  • Exceptional leadership and team management skills, including motivation and staff development
  • Clear communication of clinical decisions and operational updating
  • High levels of professional autonomy and accountability
  • Ability to work independently, make informed clinical decisions, and use initiative within a secure setting
