We have an exciting opportunity for a Substance Misuse Nurse to join our Primary Care team at HMP Wayland, a category C Prison located in Griston, Norfolk.
Salary & Hours
- Salary: £34,428 - £41,659 per annum (depending on experience)
- Working Hours:
- Monday to Friday: 7.30 am – 19:30 pm
- Weekends: 08:30 am – 17:30

Responsibilities
As a Substance Misuse Nurse, your role will include:
- Working within a multi-disciplinary team to deliver a nurse-led service and prevent hospital admissions
- Conducting medication rounds, dispensing controlled medication, and responding to emergency situations
- Assessing patients and undertaking reception screening
- Delivering nurse-led clinics supported by a multidisciplinary team
- Providing outstanding, evidence-based care to support patients, informed by their personalised feedback
- Offering non-judgmental and compassionate care while making a real impact
- Leading initiatives to inspire excellence, fostering strong partner and stakeholder relationships
- Promoting best practice, ensuring clinical supervision and an environment of continuous quality improvement
- Sharing knowledge, skills, and expertise to ensure safe care and multi-disciplinary teamwork

Qualifications & Skills
Required:
✔ Registered nurse (Adult branch) ✔ Current NMC professional qualification ✔ Evidence of Continued Professional Development (CPD) ✔ Understanding of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working ✔ A non-judgmental, compassionate approach ✔ Excellent communication skills
Desirable (Not Mandatory):
- Previous experience in a hospital, community, or prison environment
