About the Role

The SuccessFactors Technical Engineer is a hands-on configuration and technical delivery role responsible for building, testing, documenting and deploying changes with the Group’s SAP SuccessFactors product suite.

Working from requirements, priorities and solution direction provided by the People Systems Lead, the role translates agreed requirements into high-quality system configuration, validates changes through playbacks and testing, and supports controlled deployment as part of the ongoing optimisation of the People technology landscape.

Specialising in Employee Central core configuration through practical, hands-on knowledge of the wider SuccessFactors platform and integration landscape, including Intelligent Services, Integration Centre, Microsoft Teams integrations, and relevant third-party integration options. The role supports system maintenance, designing robust, scalable solutions that meet business needs, improve user experience, and deliver measurable value.

What you’ll be responsible for

Requirements Translation & Configuration Design

  • Receive requirements, priorities and design direction from the People Systems Lead and translate them into practical configuration changes.
  • Assess configuration options, dependencies and constraints across SuccessFactors modules, highlighting risks, assumptions and impacts for review.
  • Contribute to solution thinking by providing technical input, feasibility insight and configuration recommendations, while operating within the agreed People Systems roadmap and governance framework.

  • Undertake hands-on configuration, business rule changes, permissions updates, workflow amendments, field changes, template updates and related technical build activity across SuccessFactors modules.
  • Prepare and deliver configuration playbacks to the People Systems Lead and relevant SMEs, clearly explaining what has been built, how it works and any areas requiring decision or validation.
  • Support unit testing, system testing and user acceptance testing by preparing test scenarios, resolving defects and ensuring configuration behaves as expected.
  • Package, document and deploy approved changes in line with change control, release management and environment management processes.

Documentation, Support & Continuous Improvement

  • Maintain clear technical documentation, including configuration notes, build specifications, test evidence, deployment notes and support handover materials.
  • Investigate system issues, troubleshoot defects and provide technical analysis to support incident resolution, enhancements and continuous improvement activity.
  • Work collaboratively with the People Systems Lead, internal SMEs, IT teams and external AMS partners where required to progress technical delivery and maintain system stability.

About you

  • Deep, hands-on knowledge of SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central and the wider platform layer, including MDF objects, business rules, workflows, Role-Based Permissions, picklists, data models, and configuration dependencies across modules.
  • Support, configure, and troubleshoot integrations between SuccessFactors and third-party systems, using appropriate tools such as Intelligent Services, Integration Centre, APIs, and other approved integration approaches.
  • Configure and optimise Microsoft Teams integration within SuccessFactors to support full platform adoption, improve user experience, and enable seamless access to HR processes and employee data where appropriate.
  • Configure and support SAP AI-enabled platform capabilities, ensuring features are appropriately enabled, governed, tested, and aligned to business requirements and responsible use principles.
  • Strong understanding of environment management and transport principles — experience moving configuration from Dev/Preview through to Production.
  • Proven ability to design and execute User Acceptance Testing (UAT), including writing test scripts, managing defects, and driving resolution.
  • Hands-on integration experience —Not just awareness; you have built or maintained integrations.
  • Excellent stakeholder communication — able to explain technical solutions to non-technical audiences through clear playbacks, demos, and documentation.
  • Governance and compliance mindset — you understand why change management, approvals, and audit trails matter, and you operate accordingly.
  • Ownership of a body of work end-to-end: Support and taken feedback for design → configure → test → deploy → playback.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with a solutions-oriented approach.
