Role Overview
We are currently recruiting for a Summer Chemistry R&D Student Placement based in Cambridge in our Solid Form and Particle Engineering (SFPE). The 3-month placement, over the summer of 2026, will be an exciting opportunity to gain valuable practical industrial skills within our group on subjects related to solid-form and physicochemical profiling, salt/polymorph, cocrystal screening and selection, chiral separation, scale up and crystallisation development of forms. Our laboratories are fully equipped with state-of-the-art instrumentation, including; X-Ray Powder Diffraction (including variable temperature and humidity), Single Crystal Diffraction, Thermal analysis (DSC and TGA), GVS/ DVS, Sirius automated pKa/ logP and solubility measurement platforms for physicochemical analysis along with multiple crystallisation development tools and PAT tools, including Optimax reactor and Mettler Toledo FBRM, PVM, Renishaw Raman Spectroscopy and a Malvern Mastersizer 3000.
Operating from our state-of-the-art facility in Cambridge, UK, we aim to change lives by enabling ground-breaking drugs to make it to market quickly and with enhanced efficacy. Almost 20% of small molecule drugs launched in the last 5 years have passed through our labs. This means patient outcomes are improved sooner and at a lower cost.

Core Responsibilities
- Comply with SOP's and show commitment to the Veranova Safety and Quality cultures
- Conduct laboratory experiments and participate in investigative R&D work in the laboratory.
- Provide technical and analytical support by performing analyses on active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) molecules.
- Achieve an understanding of projects being worked on, so as to contribute to project planning and the design of experiments.
- Maintain a detailed record of work done. Prepare reports on specific items of work where appropriate.
- Work in a safe manner, and maintain working areas in a safe and tidy condition.
- Liaise with other departments within the group, particularly with analytical.
Qualifications
- Currently be studying a Chemistry or Pharmaceutical sciences based Undergraduate degree or relevant Scientific degree and completed 2 years of study by summer 2026
- Have practical laboratory experience
- Be flexible to adapt to changing priorities and have a willingness to learn
- Have high attention-to-detail and able to maintain accuracy
- Have strong communication skills with the ability to communicate technical information to a wide range of audiences
- Have a problem-solving mind-set with the ability to work independently
