Job Description:

Overview of internship programme

Our summer internship programme offers a hands-on introduction to energy markets and commercial trading. You will develop new skills, work on real business challenges, and gain insight into how a leading energy trading organisation operates in a fast‑paced, commercial environment.

  • Eligibility: Currently in penultimate year of studies, with the right to work in the UK
  • Paid internship
  • Conversion opportunity to Commercial Graduate Programme

What you can expect:

Based at our global headquarters in London, our structured and fully paid summer internship programme provides meaningful exposure to our business and people. Our London Summer Interns join a small cohort, allowing for meaningful collaboration, close support and a personalised experience. The programme offers a global dimension, with opportunities to work with the Paris intern cohort in person, and engage virtually with our interns in North America.

  • Hands-on participation in a real business project, with ownership and responsibility for delivering outcomes
  • Industry‑specific, technical, and professional skills training
  • Regular interaction with our commercial teams and senior leaders
  • Ongoing coaching and support from your manager and mentor
  • Opportunities to build a strong internal network across the business
  • Social activities throughout the programme
  • An end‑of‑placement presentation to our Heads of Departments and key stakeholders

Our teams

We typically have opportunities across the following teams:

  • Power Trading – Trading across European power markets, using data and technology to identify opportunities and manage risk.
  • Gas Trading - One of Europe’s largest gas trading teams, covering procurement, pricing, logistics, and exposure to global energy markets.
  • Systematic Trading - Developing data-driven trading strategies using quantitative models to capture market opportunities.
  • Origination - Supporting deal structuring, business development, and monitoring regulatory changes impacting commercial activity.
  • Analytics - Providing market insights through modelling and analysis across gas, power, and weather dynamics.
  • Market Risk - Monitoring and modelling risk across trades and counterparties, including pricing validation and credit risk analysis.

What we are looking for

We are seeking curious, enthusiastic and commercially minded students with an entrepreneurial mindset who are keen to explore a career in energy markets. Ideal candidates will demonstrate:

  • A genuine interest in the energy industry
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Well-developed quantitative and qualitative analytical skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively
  • Experience with programming languages such as Python

Future opportunities

Successful completion of the summer internship programme may lead to an offer to join our two‑year Commercial Graduate Programme. We will be running assessment centres mid-November.
