Job Description
Role Summary
Downham Hall is a family-run Georgian Manor House wedding and events venue, home to a 2 AA Rosette awarded restaurant that is commitment to exceptional hospitality and fine dining experiences. We are seeking a passionate and professional Sunday Server to join our front-of-house team on a regular weekly basis.
This is a wonderful opportunity for an enthusiastic hospitality professional who takes pride in delivering a warm, attentive, and polished guest experience in an elegant setting.
Key Details
- Job Title: Sunday Server
- Location: Downham Hall, between Billericay and Wickford, Essex
- Hours: 1:00 pm – 7:00 pm every Sunday
- Contract Type: Regular weekly shift (part-time)
- Age Requirement: Applicants must be aged 18 or over
- Pay: £12.75 per hour plus shared tips
- Department: Food & Beverage / Restaurant
- Reporting To: Restaurant Manager / Head of Front of House
Key Responsibilities
As a Sunday Server at Downham Hall, you will be an ambassador for our restaurant and brand. Your responsibilities will include:
- Welcoming guests warmly and professionally upon arrival, ensuring an outstanding first impression
- Delivering a confident, knowledgeable table service experience befitting our 2 AA Rosette standard
- Taking food and beverage orders accurately, with the ability to guide guests through the menu with genuine enthusiasm
- Demonstrating excellent knowledge of our dishes, ingredients, allergens, and wine and beverage pairings
- Ensuring tables are set, maintained, and cleared to the highest standard throughout service
- Working collaboratively with the kitchen and wider front-of-house team to ensure smooth, seamless service
- Handling guest queries and requests promptly and courteously, going above and beyond to exceed expectations
- Assisting with set-up and breakdown of the restaurant before and after service
- Following all food safety, hygiene, and licensing regulations at all times
- Supporting an environment where every guest leaves with a memorable experience of Downham Hall

Essential Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in a restaurant, fine dining, or quality hospitality environment
- Genuine passion for food, drink, and delivering exceptional guest experiences
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Smart, professional personal presentation
- Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Reliable, punctual, and committed to your regular Sunday shift

Desirable
- Experience working within an AA Rosette or fine dining environment
- Knowledge of wine service and food and wine pairing
- First Aid certificate
