About the Role
Flexibility deserves recognition—and the RAC delivers. As a Superflex Patrol Roadside Mechanic, you’ll provide the adaptability our service relies on.
Key Aspects
- Competitive salary: £50,669 basic, with opportunity to earn up to £57,000
- Weekly variety: Average 40 hours per week with roster provided 7 days in advance; core hours confirmed 3 days prior
- Flexible shifts: Between 06:00–02:00, covering early mornings, evenings, weekends, and bank holidays
Where You’ll Work
You’ll serve the Darlington Cluster, covering:
- Darlington
- Bishop Auckland
- Newton Aycliffe
- Crook
- Spennymoor
- Shildon
- Barnard Castle
Work is organised locally—you start/finish at home and maintain members via roadside assistance in your local area.
Requirements
To succeed, you’ll need:
- An A Level 2 light vehicle maintenance qualification (or equivalent) with proven technical, electrical, and diagnostic experience
- A customer-focused approach
- A full UK driving licence
- Flexibility to work at short notice, including overnight stays
