About the Role
As a Supermarket Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in delivering Partner-led service and expertise that sets Waitrose apart. Your passion for food and dedication to exceeded customer expectations will help shape the Waitrose experience—ensuring loyal customers keep returning and recommending us to others.
Your energy and commitment will leave a lasting impression on every customer visit. Enhance your pay with Night Premium (£3.75/hr) for shifts worked 22:00–06:00, provided to all eligible Partners.
Key Responsibilities
Your role will involve leading customer service while supporting day-to-day shop operations:
- Stock management: Maintain fully stocked shelves and ensure products are visible and accessible for customers.
- Online fulfilment: Prepare orders for Click & Collect and home delivery to meet customer demands.
- Wastage reduction: Audit expired/dated products and apply discounts or markdowns where appropriate.
- Team support: Assist with checkouts, Click & Collect collection/dispatch, and ad-hoc customer service tasks when needed.
- Shopkeeping: Ensure a tidy, safe, and welcoming environment—including cleaning and general maintenance.

- Previous experience in retail or customer-facing roles.

Where? Abingdon (Waitrose & Partners) 📍 Abbey Close, Abingdon, Oxfordshire, OX14 3HL
Contract: Permanent, Part-Time (9.75 hrs/week) 📅 Fixed Hours (Fixed Sunday & Friday shifts):
- Sunday: 10:00–16:15
- Friday: 16:30–20:30
Start Rate: £13.00/hr (↑ to £13.25 after 90 days) Career Level:** Partnership Level 10
