Supermarket Assistant – Waitrose & Partners

About the Role

As a Supermarket Assistant, you’ll play a crucial role in shaping the Waitrose customer experience. Delivering Partner-led service and unwavering passion for food, you’ll set our brand apart—and inspire food lovers to return again and again.

Remote (on-site): Holsworthy (Waitrose & Partners), Station Road, Holsworthy, Devon, EX22 6AZ

  • Pay: £13.00/hour (£13.25 after 90 days)
  • Contract Type: Temporary
  • Hours: Part-time, 15 hours/week (Friday/Saturday/Sunday, evenings)
  • Job Level: Partnership Level 10

Night Premium Rate: Any hours worked between 22:00–06:00 attract an extra £3.75/hour (encompassing existing Premium arrangements).


Key Responsibilities

Your role goes beyond customer service—it’s a dynamic combination of helpful interaction and essential shop-keeping tasks:

  • Stock replenishment – Ensuring shelves are full, products are properly placed, and perfect for customers’ convenience.
  • Fulfilling online orders – Preparing e-commerce deliveries for same-day shipment to customer doors.
  • Reducing wastage – Correctly applying product due diligence, markdowns, and date management to minimise food loss.
  • Cross-team support – Assisting with:
    • Checkout operations
    • Managing Click & Collect orders
    • Fulfilling on-demand customer requests
    • Ad-hoc operational demand across the store.
  • Maintaining store standards – Keeping the environment safe, organised and clean.

  • Strong communication skills for seamless teamwork and customer interaction.

  • Keen knowledge of food/drink trends and a natural interest in our offerings.
  • Flexibility to assist the wider team, with willingness to adapt across shifts/locations.
