About the Role
As a Supermarket Assistant, you’ll help our difference be felt by our customers on every visit, providing the Partner-led service and passion for food that competitors can't match—passionate Partners serving food lovers!
Your drive to go the extra mile makes all the difference in the impression our customers have of the Waitrose brand and keeps them returning again and again, earning their trust for a lifetime.
In addition to your contractual pay, any time worked between 22:00–06:00 will attract Night Premium at £3.75 per hour. This also applies to existing Partners on Enhanced Hours Premium arrangements.
Due to working time regulations, applicants must be 18 years or older.
Key Responsibilities
Alongside delivering great service, the role includes a range of shop-keeping tasks to ensure smooth and efficient operations:
- Stock replenishment: Keeping shelves stocked and products correctly placed where customers can find them.
- Online order fulfilment: Packing and preparing orders for our drivers’ Click & Collect deliveries.
- Wastage reduction: Managing product due diligence and markdowns to ensure fresh products are used efficiently.
- Cross-team support: Assisting with checkout operations, Click & Collect, fulfilling on-demand orders, and more.
- General shopkeeping: Maintaining a safe and tidy working environment.

Requirements
Essential Skills/Experience
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with the team and customers.
Desirable Skills/Experience
- Experience in a customer-facing role (preferred).
- Up-to-date knowledge of food and drink trends and a strong interest in them.
- A flexible approach to supporting the entire branch.
Additional Information
- Salary: £13.25 per hour
- Work Hours: Varied part-time hours (7 days, various shifts between 07:00–00:00) including early starts, late finishes, evenings, and weekends.
