Supermarket Assistant – Waitrose & Partners

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Supermarket Assistant, you’ll help Waitrose make a difference by delivering exceptional Partner-led service and passion for food, ensuring our customers remember—and return to—our brand every time. Your commitment to going the extra mile will shape their trust and loyalty for life.

Key highlights:

  • Passionate service for food-loving customers that sets us apart
  • Night Premium pay of £3.75/hour for shifts between 22:00–06:00 (applies to existing partners under Enhanced Hours Premium)
  • Bank Holiday work includes £6 bonus/hour for shifts worked
  • Temporary contract with flexible part-time hours (8–10 hours/week, including weekends/evenings)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Your role will be hands-on, ensuring smooth daily operations while delivering outstanding customer service. Responsibilities include:

  • Stock management:

    • Efficient shelf replenishment, ensuring products are well-stocked and displayed attractively
    • Minimising wastage through accurate date monitoring and discount markers
  • Order fulfilment:

    • Processing online orders, Click & Collect, and on-demand service requests for home delivery
    • Ensuring Order & Service teams receive ready-to-deliver stock on time

ESSENTIAL & DESIRABLE SKILLS

Must-Have

  • Strong customer service skills with a friendly, approachable attitude
  • Ability to work flexibly as part of a fast-paced team

Desirable (A plus!)

  • Experience in customer-facing roles, particularly in retail or hospitality
  • Curiosity about food trends and a passion for quality produce
  • Willingness to adapt to varying shift patterns (early starts, late finishes, weekends)

Competitive Remuneration

  • Base pay: £13.00/hour (rising to £13.25/hour after 90 days)

  • Sheffield store: Waitrose & Partners, 1–3 Ecclesall Road, Sheffield, S11 8HY
  • Contract type: Temporary
  • Hours: Part-time (8–10 hours/week), seven-day rotations, including early, late, evening, and weekend shifts
