Supermarket Assistant – Stroud (Waitrose & Partners)
About the Role
As a Supermarket Assistant at Waitrose & Partners, you’ll help us deliver exceptional customer service—driving our difference in passion and quality that competitors can’t match. By going the extra mile, you’ll shape lasting customer trust and loyalty while contributing to the Waitrose brand’s reputation.
Key to this role is our Partner-led service, where staff and customers alike share a genuine love for food. Whether stocking shelves, assisting with online orders, or creating a safe, welcoming environment, every effort counts.
Pay includes:
- Core rate of £13.00/hour (raising to £13.25/hour after 90 days)
- Night Premium of £3.75/hour for shifts between 22:00–06:00 (applies to new and existing Partners under Enhanced Hours Premium arrangements)
- Commission-based savings accounts (Partners’ Bonus Scheme) and an array of Partnership benefits
Key Responsibilities
You’ll ensure smooth, efficient operations across these core tasks:

customer-facing service
- Stock replenishment to keep shelves stocked and products accessible
- Assisting with customer questions and troubleshooting customer orders

Order fulfilment
- Picking and packing online orders for home delivery
- Supporting Click & Collect and on-demand grocery requests

- Prioritising perishable goods through strategic pricing and markdowns

Shopkeeping & maintenance
- Keeping floor space tidy and customer areas well-maintained
- Helping out with checkout support during busy periods
Essential Requirements
- Effective communication to collaborate with team members and clients
- Willingness to support the wider store team across shifts (including early mornings, late nights, evenings and weekends)
Desirable Skills
- Prior experience in customer service-oriented roles
- A keen interest in food and drink trends
- Flexibility to adapt and assist in diverse scenarios within the store
