Team Leader – Waitrose
About The Role
As a Team Leader within one of our Waitrose shops, you’ll help make our difference felt by our customers on every visit, delivering Partner-led service and a passion for food that our competitors cannot match – passionate Partners serving food lovers.
Your drive to go the extra mile to support both customers and Partners will shape the experience our customers have of the Waitrose brand, ensuring they return time and again by earning their trust, loyalty, and long-term satisfaction. Throughout, you’ll work to maximise sales and profit.
Key Responsibilities
Due to working time regulations, applicants must be 18 years or over to apply.
Aside from providing exceptional customer service, your role includes a range of shop-keeping and operational tasks to ensure smooth and efficient operations:
- Support the shop’s management team with managerial duties and collaborate across all areas to meet customer demand.
- Ensure Partners operate in a safe, legal, and compliant manner.
- Fulfill online orders for direct customer delivery.
- Manage stock replenishment, keeping shelves stocked and products in the right place.
- Assist with wider team support, including minimising cash-management tasks, managing Click & Collect, and fulfilling on-demand customer orders.
- Be proactive in driving the shop’s commercial performance, constantly seeking ideas to refine operational efficiency.
- Reduce wastage by following product due diligence and applying markdowns to items reaching their sell-by dates.
- Maintain a safe and tidy working environment through general shopkeeping tasks.

Essential Skills & Experience
- Strong people and leadership skills.
- A solid understanding of retail operations and strategies to maximise sales success.
- Experience in a customer-facing role.
- Skilful stakeholder management, particularly when collaborating with third parties and managing Partners.
Desirable (Internal Partners only):
- Certified as a Duty Manager.
