Team Leader – Waitrose
ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Team Leader within one of our Waitrose shops, you'll help shape the customer experience, delivering the Partner-led service and passion for food that our competitors can't compete with. As a passionate Partner serving food lovers, your dedication to going the extra mile will leave a lasting impression.
Your commitment ensures customers return repeatedly, trusting and loyal to our brand while helping drive sales and profitability. In addition to your contractual pay, premium rates apply for shifts worked between 22:00–06:00 (£3.75 per hour)—available to all Partners enrolled in the Enhanced Hours Premium scheme.
Due to working time regulations, applicants must be 18 years or older.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Alongside excellent customer service, your role involves critical shop functions to maintain efficiency and productivity. Key tasks include:
- Supporting management and collaborating across the shop to meet customer demand.
- Ensuring all Partners comply with safety and legal standards.
- Fulfilment of online customer orders for home delivery.
- Stock replenishment – keeping shelves well-stocked and products in the right place for customers.
- Assisting with checkout duties, managing Click & Collect, fulfilling on-demand orders, and more.
- Driving commercial performance, offering productivity and innovation ideas.
- Reducing waste through attentive product management and markdowns for near-expiry items.
- Maintaining a safe and tidy working environment with core shopkeeping tasks.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Strong people and leadership skills.
- Solid understanding of retail operations and how to maximise success.
- Proven experience in customer-facing roles.
- Effective stakeholder management (working with third parties and colleagues).
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE
- Duty Manager training (Internal Partners only).

- Working Hours: Full-time, varied, including evenings (21:00–08:00) and weekends.
