Team Leader Vacancy – Waitrose (Chandler’s Ford)
About the Role
As a Team Leader within one of our Waitrose shops, you’ll help define our difference—delivering Partner-led service and passion for food that competitors can’t match. Each visit should leave customers thrilled, eager to return for life, by earning trust and loyalty through exceptional service.
Your proactive approach will enhance customer experience, foster team spirit, and drive sales and profitability. Key perks include:
- Night Premium for shifts between 22:00–06:00 at £3.75/hour
- Application open to all applicants aged 18+ (due to working hour regulations)
Key Responsibilities
Your role spans operational excellence, team leadership, and commercial commitment:
- Shoplife Coordination: Support the shop’s management team, liaising across departments to meet customer demand.
- Customer Service: Deliver outstanding customer experience through proactive and charming service.
- Health & Safety: Ensure all Partners operate safely and legally, adhering to company standards.
- Inventory & Fulfillment:
- Assemble online orders for delivery, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Manage stock replenishment, maintaining full shelves and logical placement for ease of purchase.
- Operational Support:
- Assist with checkout teams during busy periods.
- Handle Click & Collect batches to maintain efficiency.
- Areas may require on-demand ordering (emergency supply rectification) and other tasks as needed.
- Commercial Growth:
- Actively help increase shop profitability through process improvements,=data-driven adjustments, and ideas.
- Proactively reduce food waste via strategic product rotation and markdowns.
- Environmental Standards:
- Maintain a safe, tidy, and efficient working area by completing general shopkeeping tasks.

Essential Experience & Skills
To succeed, you should:
- Demonstrate strong team leadership and people-management abilities.
- Have a solid retail background, including customer-facing roles.
- Showcase commercial acumen with experience in optimising sales and productivity.
- Apply effective stakeholder management skills with third parties and colleagues.
Desirable Experience
- Experience as a Duty Manager (for internal Partners)
Critical Information
- Pay: £14.58/hour (including premiums where applicable)
- Contract Type: Temporary
- Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week, across seven days (including weekends), typically 4/5 nights shift rotations (22:00–08:00).
