About the Role
As a Team Leader within one of our Waitrose shops, you'll help our partners-led service and passion for food stand out, ensuring our customers experience undisputed quality that competitors can’t match. Your commitment to excellence—whether supporting customers or working alongside shop colleagues—will shape the Waitrose brand’s reputation and foster long-term loyalty. By prioritising sales, profitability, and customer trust, you’ll play a vital role in delivering the exceptional service that keeps food lovers coming back.
Eligibility: Due to working time regulations, applicants must be 18 years or older.
Key Responsibilities
Your managerial and operational duties will drive operational efficiency, customer satisfaction, and commercial success:
- Lead the shop’s Team Leadership and collaborate with all departments to meet customer demand.
- Ensure Partners (colleagues) adhere to safety, legal, and corporate requirements.
- Process and expedite online orders for seamless delivery, enhancing click-and-collect and home deliveries.
- Optimise stock replenishment, maintaining full shelves and organised product placement to maximise visibility and sell-through.
- Provide cross-departmental support, including checkout assistance, Click & Collect processing, and on-demand order fulfilment.
- Initiate innovations and workstream improvements to boost operational performance and profitability.
- Minimise waste by managing product freshness, discounts, and markdowns for items nearing sell-by dates.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and well-organised working environment.

Essential Skills & Experience
To thrive in this role, you should bring:
- Strong leadership and people management abilities.
- A detailed understanding of retail operations with a proven track record of achieving commercial outcomes.
- Relevant customer-facing experience.
- Stakeholder collaboration skills for working with internal teams and external partners.
Desirable (Bonus) Experience
- Training as a Duty Manager (limited to internal Partners).
