Team Leader – Waitrose Shop Position
About the Role
As a Team Leader within one of our Waitrose shops, you’ll drive our mission to deliver exceptional service, fostering trust and loyalty among customers through a Partner-led approach. Your dedication to exceeding expectations—whether assisting customers or supporting our team—will reinforce our reputation for food passion and passionate service. By going above and beyond to meet commercial targets, you’ll contribute directly to increasing sales, profit, and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
Beyond exceptional customer service, your role will involve hands-on operational tasks critical to smooth shop operations:

Shop Leadership & Customer Demand:
- Support the shop’s management team while collaborating across departments to meet evolving customer needs.
- Play a proactive role in driving the shop’s commercial performance, offering innovative improvements.

Food Safety & Compliance:
- Ensure Partners and procedures are fully safe and legally compliant.

Order Fulfillment:
- Prepare online orders for delivery to customers’ doors or manage Click & Collect bookings.

Stock Management:
- Optimise shelf stocking and product placement to keep provincial shelves fully stocked, minimising out-of-stock situations.

Team Support & Operational Efficiency:
- Provide checkout assistance when necessary.
- Support on-demand orders and other operational roles as required by the team.

Reducing Wastage:
- Analyse product due diligence and apply markdowns to perishable items nearing sell-by dates.

Maintenance & Tidy Operations:
- Uphold a clean, safe, and organised working environment through general shopkeeping tasks—ensuring a seamless experience for both customers and Partners.
Skills & Experience
Essential Requirements:
- Strong people and leadership skills
- Solid understanding of retail operations and strategies to maximise commercial success
- Previous experience in customer-facing roles
- Ability to manage stakeholders effectively, including third-party partners
Nice-to-Have:
- Duty Manager Training (for internal Partners only)
