Supermarket Assistant – About The Role
As a Supermarket Assistant, you’ll help our difference be felt by our customers on every visit, providing Partner-led service and passion for food that our competitors can’t compete with. Your drive to go the extra mile will shape customers' impressions of Waitrose, keeping them loyal and coming back for life.
Age requirement: Applicants must be 18 years or over due to working time regulations.
Key Responsibilities
You’ll ensure both exceptional customer service and smooth operational flow. Key tasks include:
- Stock replenishment – Keep shelves fully stocked and products organised for customer convenience.
- Online order fulfilment – Prepare customer orders for direct delivery.
- Wastage reduction – Follow product due diligence, apply markdowns to nearing-expiry items.
- Team support – Assist with checkout operations, manage Click & Collect orders, and support on-demand requests.
- Shopkeeping – Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workplace.

Essential Skills/Experience
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with colleagues and customers.
Desirable Skills/Experience

- Prior experience in a customer-facing role.
- Passion for food and drink trends (up-to-date knowledge welcomed).
- A flexible mindset to assist across the branch when needed.
