Supermarket Assistant – Waitrose & Partners (Harrogate)
About the Role
As a Supermarket Assistant, you’ll help us deliver an unmatched difference for our customers—ensuring every visit is positive through a partner-led service and passion for food that competitors can’t match. Your commitment to going the extra mile will shape how customers remember the #Waitrose brand, earning their loyalty for life.
In addition to your base pay, working shifts between 22:00–06:00 attract a Night Premium of £3.75 per hour. This also applies to current Partners enrolled in the Enhanced Hours Premium scheme.
Key Responsibilities
As a Supermarket Assistant, your role ensures smooth shop operations and exceptional customer service. Responsibilities include:

Stock Replenishment
- Ensuring shelves remain fully stocked, products are in the correct locations, and stock arrives in line with customer demand.

Online Order Fulfillment
- Preparing online customer orders for same-day delivery by our drivers, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.

Waste Reduction
- Following guidelines for product due diligence, markdowns, and selling perishables approaching expiry dates to cut waste.

Team Support
- Assisting the wider team with tasks such as:
- Checkout support
- Click & Collect order management
- On-demand customer orders and other operational needs

- Maintaining a Safe and Organised Work Environment

Essential Skills & Experience
- Strong communication skills to work effectively as part of a team and with customers.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Experience in a customer-facing role (advantageous).
- Up-to-date knowledge and a passionate interest in food and drink trends.
- A flexible approach, prepared to support the entire branch based on operational needs.

Job Details
- Salary: £13.00/hour (Earns £13.25 after 90 days).
- Location: Waitrose & Partners Harrogate – 92 Station Parade, Harrogate, North Yorkshire HG1 1HD.
- Contract Type: Permanent.
- Hours of Work: Part-time, varied (12 hours across seven days, including evenings and weekends).
- Closing Date: July 7, 2026.
