Qualified Social Workers Only

Job Title: Fostering Supervising Social Worker
Location: Birmingham and West Midlands
Job Types: Permanent
Working Hours: 37.5 Hours Per Week Monday - Friday
Pay: Up to £42,000.00 per year to include car allowance
Participation in out-of-hours rota: Yes
Annual Leave Entitlement: 30 days (plus birthday)
Responsible To: Registered/Deputy Manager

As a Supervising Social Worker with Swiis, you will work closely with foster carers to ensure safe, nurturing, stable foster families for children and young people. This is a varied, rewarding role where no two days are the same.

Core Responsibilities

Support & Supervision

  • Managing and supervising a caseload of foster carers.
  • Ensuring homes provide safe and nurturing environments.
  • Delivering high-quality supervision, guidance, and support visits.
  • Assisting foster carers to evidence their competencies and complete TSD workbooks.
  • Supporting annual foster carer reviews and presenting to panel.
  • Identifying training needs and contributing to workshops and support groups.
  • Helping foster carers prepare young people for semi-independent or independent living.
  • Participating in the Out-of-Hours rota.

Safeguarding & Care Planning

  • Working closely with local authorities to meet children’s needs.
  • Ensuring care plans, placement plans, PEPs, and pathway plans are up-to-date.
  • Completing individual risk assessments and safe caring plans.
  • Maintaining accurate case recordings within required timeframes.
  • Ensuring compliance with all regulations and child safeguarding procedures.
  • Attending relevant meetings, activities, and events to support children and foster carers.

Administration & Compliance

  • Maintaining accurate, GDPR-compliant records.
  • Managing all documentation, reporting, and database tasks effectively.
  • Ensuring timely processing of incidents and notifications.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Demonstrating Swiis core values in all aspects of work.
  • Participating in ongoing training and professional development.
  • Maintaining awareness of health & safety, equality, and diversity policies.
  • Driving responsibilities where applicable (vehicle upkeep, safety, insurance, etc.).
