Are you a qualified Social Worker looking for a rewarding opportunity within fostering? We are looking for a full-time Supervising Social Worker to join our Fostering service in Thornaby on a 12-month maternity cover contract.

At Five Rivers Child Care, we are a social enterprise committed to turning children’s lives around. We reinvest our surplus into the services and support that help children, young people, foster carers and families to thrive.

About The Role

As a Supervising Social Worker, you will play an important part in supporting our foster carers and helping to achieve positive outcomes for children and young people. You will work as part of an experienced and supportive team, holding a manageable caseload and providing high-quality supervision, guidance and intervention.

You will work within a trauma-informed practice model and have opportunities to contribute to assessments, care planning, participation events and wider service development. The role will also include taking part in our out-of-hours support rota for foster carers.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide regular supervision, support and guidance to foster carers.
  • Maintain a manageable caseload and deliver high-quality intervention.
  • Work therapeutically and in line with trauma-informed practice.
  • Complete Form F assessments and contribute to care planning and strategy meetings.
  • Support the recruitment, assessment and ongoing development of foster carers.
  • Take part in participation activities and events for children and young people.
  • Contribute to the out-of-hours support rota for foster carers.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
